This privacy notice for Doowii ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), describes how and why we might collect, store, use, and/or share ("Process") the information when our services are used ("Services"). Our services are offered to schools, school districts or other education organizations (“School”), and provide web-based data analytics and reporting services. This Privacy Policy relates to the Personal Information that we may collect from users or that is provided to us by the School, or any users in connection with the School’s use of the Services. “Personal Information” is information that can identify a specific individual.

In short: We collect personal information provided to the Company by Schools, including student data, to provide a Service to the School.
We may collect information about students directly from Schools, including School and District administrators, teachers, and students. Users will not be required to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to use our Services.
Personal Information Provided by You. The personal information that is collected depends on the context of the interactions each School has with us, and the Services used, and the choices made. Our services are retained by a School or district to provide and host the Services on the School’s behalf and under the School’s control. The School customizes the content, controls who can register for and use the various features of the Services and who can access the Personal Information posted or maintained on the Services.The personal information we collect, or which may be provided to us by each School, may include the following:
We consider student data and student records (“Student Data”) to be confidential. We will not use Student Data for any purpose other than to provide the Service on the School’s behalf.
When the Service is used as part of a School’s educational technology strategy, personal information related to students that is (i) provided to the Company by a School, or (ii) collected by the Company during the provision of the Service to a School, may include information defined as “educational records” by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”) or “covered information” under California’s Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (“SOPIPA”).
Student Data is owned and controlled by the School. Our collection and use of Student Data is governed by our contracts with the Schools and by applicable privacy laws.
How we share and disclose Student Data: Student Data and account usage data may be disclosed to, or accessible by users who are authorized to use the Service on behalf of the School.
How we retain Student Data: We will not knowingly retain Student Data beyond the time period required to support an educational purpose, unless authorized by the School.
It should be noted that the Service uses Student Data shared by the School with the Company. Schools are responsible for maintaining Student Data, and retaining it for educational purposes through their use of the Service.
Questions about Student Data: For questions relating to Student Data provided to the Company by a School, please direct those questions to the School.
Other Information Collected: To provide a personalized and high-quality experience for our users, we, and our third-party partners, may use various technologies that automatically record certain technical information from the browser or device when a user visits our website, reads our emails, uses our Service, or otherwise engages with us. Technical information like this is typically collected through a variety of tracking technologies, including cookies, web beacons, embedded scripts, location-identifying technologies, file information, and similar technology. We may collect analytics data, or use third-party analytics tools, to help us measure web traffic and usage trends for the Service, and to understand more about our users by monitoring aggregate metrics such as total number of visitors, traffic, usage, and demographic patterns on our website.

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the "Shine The Light" law, permits our users who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, information about categories of personal information (if any) we disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes and the names and addresses of all third parties with which we shared personal information in the immediately preceding calendar year. Will your information be shared with anyone else?
We may disclose your personal information with our service providers pursuant to a written contract between us and each service provider. Each service provider is a for-profit entity that processes the information on our behalf, following the same strict privacy protection obligations mandated by the CCPA.

Verification process
Upon receiving your request, we will need to verify your identity to determine you are the same person about whom we have the information in our system. These verification efforts require us to ask you to provide information so that we can match it with information you have previously provided us. For instance, depending on the type of request you submit, we may ask you to provide certain information so that we can match the information you provide with the information we already have on file, or we may contact you through a communication method (e.g., phone or email) that you have previously provided to us. We may also use other verification methods as the circumstances dictate.
We will only use personal information provided in your request to verify your identity or authority to make the request. To the extent possible, we will avoid requesting additional information from you for the purposes of verification. However, if we cannot verify your identity from the information already maintained by us, we may request that you provide additional information for the purposes of verifying your identity and for security or fraud-prevention purposes. We will delete such additionally provided information as soon as we finish verifying you.

Virginia CDPA Privacy Notice
Under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (CDPA):
"Consumer" means a natural person who is a resident of the Commonwealth acting only in an individual or household context. It does not include a natural person acting in a commercial or employment context.

Verification process
We may request that you provide additional information reasonably necessary to verify you and your consumer's request. If you submit the request through an authorized agent, we may need to collect additional information to verify your identity before processing your request.
Upon receiving your request, we will respond without undue delay, but in all cases, within forty-five (45) days of receipt. The response period may be extended once by forty-five (45) additional days when reasonably necessary. We will inform you of any such extension within the initial 45-day response period, together with the reason for the extension.
Right to appeal
If we decline to take action regarding your request, we will inform you of our decision and reasoning behind it. If you wish to appeal our decision, please email us at privacy@doowii.io. Within sixty (60) days of receipt of an appeal, we will inform you in writing of any action taken or not taken in response to the appeal, including a written explanation of the reasons for the decisions. If your appeal is denied, you may contact the Attorney General to submit a complaint to privacy@doowii.io.
